Dr. Dominique Demolle, CEO, Company Co-Founder

Dominique Demolle pictureDr. Demolle has over 20 years of experience in Pharmaceutical Development. She received her PhD degree in Applied Biomedical Sciences from the Free University of Brussels (ULB, Belgium).

Industry Experience:

In 1989, Dr. Demolle joined the Clinical Research group of GD Searle Belgium, where she managed efficacy trials, mainly in inflammatory diseases. In 1993, she joined Eli Lilly, and in 1996 she was promoted to Research Scientist in Clinical Pharmacology.

Since 1999, Dr. Demolle has held positions with increasing leadership responsibilities (from Local to Global). In 2003, she became in charge of the US Indianapolis Lilly CRU (Clinical Research Unit), in addition to the European Operational staff. In 2004, she was promoted to Associate Director of Global Early Phase Operations (with the Global Early Phase Lilly operational staff and the Lilly CRU reporting to her).

Dr. Demolle has excellent knowledge of Drug Development in different therapeutic areas, as well as strong managerial skills. Because of her scientific background and understanding of compound development requirements, she reconciles "science" with operational constraints in the most efficient way.

In 2007, Dr. Demolle left Lilly to become a cofounder of Aepodia with Denis Gossen and former colleagues/peers.

Dr. Denis Gossen, CSO, Company Co-Founder

Denis Gossen pictureDr. Gossen has over 15 years' experience in Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology Drug Development. He received his Ph.D. degree in Applied Biomedical Sciences from the Free University of Brussels (ULB, Belgium). He completed postdoctoral research as a Belgian American Educational Foundation (BAEF) Fellow at Tufts Medical School/New England Medical Center in Boston, MA, where his research examined genetic regulatory mechanisms in the ontogeny of the gastrointestinal hormones potentially involved in diabetes.

Industry Experience:

Dr. Gossen joined the Development Center of Eli Lilly (Mont-Saint-Guibert, Belgium) as Clinical Researcher. He held positions of increasing responsibility in the Clinical Pharmacology Department, where he served as a clinical pharmacologist leading the early clinical development of new molecules.

Dr. Gossen then joined the Therapeutic Neurosciences Group at UCB (Belgium) as a Research Physician and was in charge of the clinical development of new molecules, as well as the line extensions of existing molecules.

He went back to Eli Lilly and was strongly involved in the identification, development, and implementation of biomarkers, focusing on a proof-of-concept approach with a strong emphasis on a preclinical/clinical translational approach.

In 2007, Dr. Gossen left Lilly to cofound Aepodia with Dr. Demolle and other former colleagues/peers.

Dr. Alvaro Pereira, Clinical Research Scientist Advisor

Alvaro Pereira pictureDr. Pereira has over 13 years of experience in Drug Development at pharmaceutical companies. He received his PhD degree in Biochemistry from the Free University of Brussels (Belgium). For his fellowship, he continued academic research in the Bioorganic Chemistry and Neurophysiopathology Departments of the Free University of Brussels.

Industry Experience:

Dr. Pereira joined the Clinical Pharmacology Department at the Development Center of Eli Lilly (Mont-Saint-Guibert, Belgium). As a Clinical Pharmacologist, he held positions of increasing responsibility, from single pharmacological trials up to the full Phase I clinical development for new CNS molecules.

In 2007, he joined Aepodia to support the scientific board in providing all his experience as an early drug developer and his high-level expertise in the CNS therapeutic area, as well as in diabetes, metabolic diseases, etc. Dr. Pereira has strong know-how in early drug development plans, the implementation of biomarkers in complex clinical trials, and due diligence.
